{"id":373,"date":"2009-09-07T17:21:29","date_gmt":"2009-09-08T00:21:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/?p=373"},"modified":"2009-09-07T17:21:29","modified_gmt":"2009-09-08T00:21:29","slug":"wrightsock-wrap-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/?p=373","title":{"rendered":"WRIGHTSOCK wrap-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the <a title=\"Wrightsock\" href=\"http:\/\/wrightsock.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">WRIGHTSOCK<\/a> Challenge in its fourth and final week, I decided I needed to put at least one pair of socks to the ultimate test.\u00a0 I already tried my new socks on two 20-mile runs, a half marathon race, the Hood-to-Coast relay (where I wore a different pair on each of three legs) and various short runs ranging from 4 to 10 miles.\u00a0 While each performed fabulously, I still questioned whether they could hold up to the rigors of the marathon.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I had my answer.<\/p>\n<p>For Michelle&#8217;s Grande Ass Marathon &#8212; a point-to-point race hitting six different Starbucks along the course &#8212; I turned to my SLXs as they had treated me well for one of my 20 milers.\u00a0 I threw caution to the wind and decided not to lube up my feet, although I did carry some moleskin in my pack just in case.\u00a0 Although we awoke to a downpour, the rain tapered off by the time of the race.\u00a0 In fact, the first part was perfect for running &#8212; cool and cloudy.\u00a0 But as we left the fourth Starbucks at around the 14- to 15-mile mark, the skies opened up again.\u00a0 UGH!<\/p>\n<p>The final 11-12 miles were a sopping wet slog (toward the end I questioned why I was even dodging the puddles &#8212; I couldn&#8217;t possibly get any more wet), but fortunately I felt nary a blister nor hot spot on my feet.\u00a0 They were completely soaked, but stayed warm during the run.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t ask for anything more.<\/p>\n<p>Of the six pairs sent by WRIGHTSOCK, my favorites are the SLXs and the SLRs.\u00a0 Both hug my arches and are extremely comfortable.\u00a0 My next favorites are the Running IIs and the Cool Mesh.\u00a0 They&#8217;re both double-layered, however, I find they crease easily when putting them on.\u00a0 But once I smooth them out they stay that way.<\/p>\n<p>Because we&#8217;ve had such hot weather, I only tried out the Cushioned DLXs once.\u00a0 They too are quite comfortable, and I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;ll be one of my go-to pairs come winter.\u00a0 As for the ultra-thin SLTs, I probably won&#8217;t wear them for running as they&#8217;re just TOO thin.\u00a0 But they&#8217;ll be great for gym or for slipping on apr\u00e9s race.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to thank WRIGHTSOCK and the <a title=\"Runner's Lounge\" href=\"http:\/\/www.runnerslounge.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Runner&#8217;s Lounge<\/a> for letting me participate in the challenge.\u00a0 My feet really appreciate it!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the WRIGHTSOCK Challenge in its fourth and final week, I decided I needed to put at least one pair of socks to the ultimate test.\u00a0 I already tried my new socks on two 20-mile runs, a half marathon race, the Hood-to-Coast relay (where I wore a different pair on each of three legs) and [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[118],"tags":[122,164],"class_list":["post-373","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-wrightsock-challenge","tag-runners-lounge","tag-wrightsock-challenge"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/373","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=373"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/373\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":374,"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/373\/revisions\/374"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=373"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=373"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eatdrinkrunwoman.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=373"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
