Skagit Flats 2008
I’m going to spare you my normally long & windy race report, as Skagit Flats can be summed up in one word:
Ow.
(Running two marathons within three weeks’ time is crazy; running one three weeks after BQing is INSANE. But as a testament to that insanity, I’m now Marathon Maniac #1077, hubby is #1078).
I did reach my goal, however: I kept my overall pace to OVER 10 minutes/mile (although I somehow managed to run mile 26 in 8:50). Results haven’t been posted, but I believe my time was 4:27:something. My darling unfortunately did not BQ (his feet have been killing him), but he WILL try again once he’s healed.
(And don’t worry — you’ll get another EDRW verbose race report once I’ve had the chance to recuperate for at least a day).

Wow–“insane” is exactly what I was thinking. I can’t run a step within 4 weeks of a marathon. Congrats on the fine finish.

Hi Betsy. Thanks for cheering for me as you ran past in the other direction yesterday. I was just starting to hurt, and needed a cheer.
Sounds like you and Matt need to take it easy and resist racing for a while! Of course, now that you both joined Marathon Maniacs, you’re going to make friends with a bunch of fanatics who run marathons every week or two. It’s a slippery slope.

Gee, I crawl under a rock for a month and you go out and BQ and become a Marathon Maniac. Congratulations on meeting your goals. I never doubted that you would BQ. I hope your husband BQs in Victoria so you can rest a bit before you start training for Boston.

Welcome to the MMs! My biggest tip is always remember your MM number… I was thoroughly embarrassed in Wyoming when people kept asking and I didn’t know it. (#1036)
